DNS Lookup (All Records)
A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, SRV, CAA in one view.
How it works
Every DNS record for a domain in one view
Enter a domain or hostname and we query the nine record types that matter for websites and email: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, SRV and CAA. Lookups go over DNS-over-HTTPS to Cloudflare, with Google as a fallback, so you see what public resolvers see right now rather than a cached copy. Each record shows its value and remaining TTL, and we point out gaps such as a missing MX, no AAAA or an NXDOMAIN response.
Results appear here after you click Look up records.
How this works
- 1
Nine parallel queries
We ask for A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SOA, SRV and CAA at the same time over DNS-over-HTTPS.
- 2
Decode each answer
MX priorities, SOA fields, TXT quoting and CAA tags are turned into readable values with their TTLs.
- 3
Flag the gaps
Missing MX, no web address, CNAME conflicts and duplicate SPF records are called out with a fix.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a DNS lookup?
- A DNS lookup asks the Domain Name System what records exist for a name. Browsers do it every time you visit a site to turn example.com into an IP address, and mail servers do it to find where email should be delivered. This tool shows all of those answers at once.
- Why do the results differ from my DNS provider's panel?
- Resolvers cache records for the length of the TTL, so a change you just made may not be visible yet. Your panel shows what you want the world to see; this lookup shows what the world actually sees right now from Cloudflare's resolver.
- Which records should every domain have?
- At minimum an A (or CNAME) record for the website, NS and SOA records which your DNS host creates automatically, and MX plus SPF and DMARC TXT records if the domain sends or receives email. CAA is optional but recommended.
- Can I look up a subdomain?
- Yes. Enter the full hostname such as shop.example.com or mail.example.com. Records like MX and CAA are usually set on the bare domain, so expect those sections to be empty on most subdomains.
- Does this lookup use my own network's DNS?
- No. Queries go directly to Cloudflare's public DNS-over-HTTPS resolver, with Google as a fallback, so the results are independent of your ISP or office network and any cached entries on your computer.
