Brandable Startup Name Generator

Invented, pronounceable names with available .com or .io.

How it works

Invented, pronounceable startup names with a free .com or .io

Brandable names like Spotify, Zapier or Klarna mean nothing until the company gives them meaning, which is exactly why they are still available. Pick a vibe, optionally give a fragment of a word you like, and we assemble invented names from syllables that match the mood: crisp for tech, soft for consumer, Latinate for luxury. Candidates are scored for length and syllables, then the top three are checked live on both .com and .io with MailShrine's real prices.

How this works

  1. 1

    Assemble syllables

Mood-matched starting and ending syllables are combined with your fragment, chosen by a hash so the list is repeatable.

  2. 2

    Keep what is sayable

Names that fail a pronounceability check, repeat letters three times or fall outside your length band are dropped.

  3. 3

    Check .com and .io

The three highest-scoring names are verified on both extensions through our registry API with live prices.

Frequently asked questions

What is a brandable domain name?
An invented or repurposed word with no dictionary meaning, such as Spotify, Zapier or Klarna. Brandable names are easier to trademark, more likely to be available as a .com and on social handles, and let the company define the meaning rather than inherit one.
Is .io acceptable for a startup?
Yes. .io has been the default for developer tools and SaaS for over a decade, and investors and customers treat it as normal. The main trade-offs are a higher renewal price than .com and the fact that general consumers still type .com by default, so grab the .com too if it is free.
How do I know an invented name is pronounceable?
The generator rejects strings with long consonant clusters and triple letters, and prefers consonant-vowel rhythms. The real test is people: say it out loud to a few friends and ask them to spell it. If two spellings come back, you will lose traffic to the other one.
Can I trademark an invented name?
Invented words are the easiest category to trademark because nobody else is using them descriptively. Search your national register and the EUIPO or USPTO databases first; a clean brandable name plus a .com is the strongest position a new company can start from.
Why are the results the same each time?
The generator is deterministic: the fragment, vibe and length seed a hash that selects the syllables. Change any input and you get a new set. That makes it easy to share a result with your co-founders and come back to it later.
